Landscape, Seascape, Figurative Painter, Non-Representational Art, Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA)
I am a Cumberland, MD transplant, having retired to the area after a 40 year career in business and social ministry in the Washington, DC area. I began studying art in my retirement, and have committed my time to growing my skills, my vision, and my artwork.
I began in watercolor, painting landscapes and seascapes based on my travels. My friendships in the art community in Allegany and Garrett Counties caused me to explore colored pencil and pastels. I enjoy capturing animal figures with pencil, and nature with pastels.
My new found love and focus is practicing the Zentangle Method. This meditative, fun, easy, and inspiring method has enhanced and expanded my art repertoire to include non-representational, whimsical artwork. I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) and am available to teach groups or individuals how to practice this art form.
I have won awards for my watercolor landscapes, colored pencil figures, and for photography based on my artistic interpretation using synthetic cloth to present my photos on.
I am fearless in experimentation, and am told that my work is inspiring and unique. I study art every day in the hope of growing to my greatest potential.
